princess-mania.

Because I'm a nerd, and even though I'm not a parent, I read things like "Bay Area Parent" when it's just sitting around at other people's houses. One such day, I came across an interview with Peggy Orenstein. The feminist in me perked up rather quickly and started cyber-stalking her. She talks about the premature sexualization of young (like REALLY young) girls today. You can check out her stuff here.

When abercrombie recently came out with padded, triangle swimsuit tops for SEVEN-YEAR OLD girls.. she had a few things to say about it.

noise and music

Tim is working on an album project. This means I see him for about 3o minutes each day. He's either gone, recording. Or home, making lots of noise. Lots. But I know it's not noise to him (and it's not really to me either), it's incredibly life-giving, fun and it brings musicians together in this really powerful way.

It makes me think that I don't really have this version of a hobby. I'm a student. I read. and read. and read more. When I'm not in class, reading, or writing reflections on how my parents messed me up, I nanny the cutest little guy ever:

Other than that, I'm a total TV junkie and will do anything for a good conversation.

It has really bothered me that it seems like nothing else sometimes. That I'm kind of good at a lot of things and not really good, or committed, to just a few things. I'll keep you posted on this one.

beginnings.

Today I stayed in my pajamas all day. All day. So, I thought, the one productive thing I could do is start a blog. Here goes nothing.
